Well, they call me Sister Merry at work, (mostly because I dont
drink, but also because of my christianity) and Ive also been
called PollyAnna, because Im one of those who likes to cheer
everybody up. But I also know how to suffer with my friends and
cry with them. Since I dont like when others give advice while Im
hurting, I dont give it either. Instead, I say things like, "Wow,
that must have really hurt" and let them continue while I just
LISTEN! (Its so hard to find fellow listeners these days!) Ive
become somewhat better at being assertive since I started working
at the prison. Even my parents have noticed it--they said it as a
compliment--after all, my inmate/students try to get away with
everything! I told my supervisor that the best training I received
for this job was raising 3 teenage boys! What pleases me is when
people show they care, either by listening, dropping by or writing,
calling, or emailing, and by letting me know that Ive helped them
in any way.
My hobbies are playing piano and gardening.
However, Im kind of obsessive/compulsive and am currently on a
mission to get in shape, so I spend several hours per week usually
outside walking to the beach, alongside the ocean, then home again
with my adorable Queensland Healer, Lacey. We do NOT stroll, we
powerwalk to several different Christian CDs. Im trying to
increase my speed to at least 4 MPH. Right now my top speed is
3.30 MPH. I also bike ride, and workout to videos. My favorite
games are logic problems, and any kind of word games or charades. |
